Teeth give you quality of life

Our teeth are an important part of our personal charisma. They give us quality of life and self-confidence. They enable us to:

  • enjoy food
  • laugh carefree
  • speak clearly
  • feel secure in everyday life
  • have a positive and natural attitude towards life

Life leaves its mark on our teeth. Diseases of the teeth and gums, as well as accidents, can lead to tooth loss. Missing teeth are not only noticeable aesthetically, but also functionally, and restrict us in many ways.

Extensive experience and successful results

For over 40 years, dental implants have offered the possibility of replacing teeth completely and permanently. Dental implants: replace single or multiple lost teeth

  • securely anchor dentures in the mouth
  • have been scientifically researched and tested (impressive success rates of over 95%)
  • have been used successfully in dentistry for decades

Dental implants can also be a way for you to regain a better quality of life, self-confidence, and a natural attitude toward life.

What is a dental implant?

A titanium tooth root. A dental implant is an artificial tooth root made of titanium, a high-quality material that is accepted by the body like its own tissue. Implants are manufactured using high-tech processes in a clean room. The titanium surface is roughened in special process steps to create micro-pores that promote bone attachment.

A long-term solution

In order to take over the function of the tooth root, the dental implant is usually inserted into the jawbone on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia. The bone then grows firmly onto the implant, forming a solid basis for the long-term and stable anchoring of the dental prosthesis.

What are the advantages of dental implants?

Implantatgetragene Zähne:

  • come closest to nature in terms of aesthetics and functionality
  • fit harmoniously into the dental arch
  • Are indistinguishable from natural teeth in terms of function and appearance in everyday life Prevent bone loss
  • form a stable foundation for the dentures
  • The palate is no longer covered by denture plastic, which has a positive effect on pronunciation and taste perception.
  • A major advantage of implant-supported dentures is that the healthy adjacent teeth do not need to be ground down.

Fixed, implant-supported teeth not only look like your own, they also feel like your own. The implant, dental crown, and gums form a harmonious unit.

Single or multiple missing teeth

Possible uses of dental implants To prevent bone loss and misalignment of teeth and jaws, gaps between teeth must be closed not only for functional reasons, but also for medical reasons. The number of implants required depends on the individual situation.

The implant takes over the function of the tooth root and transfers the chewing force from the tooth crown to the jawbone. However, a new tooth should not only fulfill its natural function, but also be aesthetically indistinguishable from the neighboring teeth, especially in the visible area.

Conventional methods: bridge on tooth stumps or prosthesis

As an alternative to implants, there are classic methods of replacing missing teeth using fixed dentures (bridges) on tooth stumps. These gaps in the teeth can also be closed with removable partial dentures. The dentures are attached to the remaining teeth with clasps or other retaining elements. This option usually does not provide an aesthetically pleasing result and can lead to oral hygiene problems.

The advantages and disadvantages of these standard solutions at a glance

Benefits

There is no need to perform surgery.

Disadvantages

  • The healthy adjacent teeth must be ground down for the bridge restoration, resulting in the permanent loss of vital tooth substance.
  • Teeth used to attach the clasps can become loose due to unfavorable stress.
  • Unfavorable force transmission to the attachment teeth during chewing can lead to their premature loss.
  • Caries can form on the ground abutment teeth that support the bridge.
  • Food debris often gets stuck on clasp dentures.
  • The dentures are not firmly anchored in every type of restoration.
  • The lack of stimulation of the bone can cause it to recede and worsen the fit of the dentures.
  • Pronunciation can be impaired by poorly fitting dentures.
  • The results may be aesthetically unsatisfactory.
  • Self-esteem and quality of life may be impaired.

Toothless jaw

Applications of Dental Implants:

For the treatment of edentulous jaws, implantology offers removable and fixed solutions. The advantages of both solutions compared to traditional dentures speak for themselves:

    • Implant-supported dentures offer secure retention in every situation.
    • Chewing forces are transmitted to the bone via the implants.
    • This can prevent bone loss and thus ensures optimal denture retention in the long term.
    • Painful pressure points can be avoided with implant-supported dentures.

The most aesthetically pleasing solution for edentulous jaws is the fixed, screw-retained dental arch. It is fixed directly to the implants and usually blends harmoniously with the gums.

Dental implant treatment procedure

After detailed diagnosis and treatment planning, implants are usually inserted into the jawbone on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia, or, if desired, under general anesthesia or twilight sedation. During the subsequent healing period, the jawbone fuses firmly with the implant and forms a secure basis for the new teeth. The patient receives a temporary replacement until the final denture is inserted. Once the healing phase is complete, the new teeth are firmly and securely fixed to the implant.

Your treating physician can provide you with information about the advantages and disadvantages of various options and take your individual wishes into account depending on your medical situation.

Advantages of fixed implant restorations

  • Best chewing function
  • Feels secure
  • Psychologically beneficial, as it is not a removable prosthesis
  • Favorable implant loading due to splinting
  • Can be designed to be aesthetically perfect
  • Metal-free, all-ceramic dentures possible
  • Immediate loading possible
