Step-by-step assessment

01

Filling out the medical history form

It is standard practice at Globe Dental to ask all new patients to fill out a medical history form, which provides us with information about your general and dental medical history (e.g., any underlying medical conditions, drug sensitivities, etc.).

02

Panoramic X-ray or CT scan

The next step is to take a panoramic X-ray or CT scan, which helps to examine the entire dentition and jawbone. The modern digital panoramic X-ray and CT scans we use involve lower radiation exposure than traditional X-rays, while allowing us to detect invisible lesions in the oral cavity.

Important information:

  • Nowadays, a treatment plan made without an X-ray is considered malpractice.
  • If necessary, we will take additional local images (digital periapical images, RVG) of the affected teeth or groups of teeth.
If you already have a panoramic X-ray that is less than six months old, please bring it with you to the consultation. If you do not have one, we will take one for you. The fee for this is 9,900 HUF.

03

Comprehensive oral examination

During the oral examination, we comprehensively examine the teeth and mucous membranes, which also includes cancer screening. We use the following methods to examine each tooth:

Vitality and sensitivity test: We check whether the tooth is alive, i.e. whether it has nerves and blood circulation. We most commonly use cold spray to test for cold sensitivity.

Tapping and palpation: This helps to identify various inflammatory lesions. An essential part of a thorough examination is periodontal probing, during which we examine the condition of the gums. This allows us to identify, for example, abnormal pockets between the teeth and gums or gum recession.

About dental CT scans

Similar to X-rays, CT scans are completely painless diagnostic procedures that are essential in many cases.

They provide an accurate picture of the condition of the gums and bone structure prior to dental implantation, which can reduce the duration of surgery by up to half.

It is a primary aid in the diagnosis of periodontal diseases. It sheds light on the causes of long-standing pain and provides a clear picture for bone replacement.

It is also frequently used for oral surgery and is an excellent source of information for doctors when fitting braces.

Why is X-ray diagnostics important?

Radiological examinations often reveal hidden tooth decay, root tip processes, tooth and jawbone fractures and cracks, jawbone cysts, and benign and malignant tumorous lesions.

We are increasingly using oral cameras in our practice. This is a small digital video camera for the oral cavity, the images from which can be viewed on a monitor. This allows both the patient and the dentist to see the lesions magnified many times over. The images taken also serve as documentation of the condition before and after treatment.

Dental abscess research

A dental focus is an insidious bacterial colony that produces toxins and is capable of transmitting them to virtually any organ. This is why, for example, you may have joint pain, but the cause can be found in your teeth. Chronic inflammations, to which the body responds with a constant, prolonged immune reaction, act as foci in the body, weakening the immune system in the long term and constantly sending bacteria into the bloodstream, often leading to the development of so-called secondary diseases. These are called focal diseases. Dental foci can be detected by X-ray and thorough, expert oral examination.
