Orthodontics

Nowadays, well-cared-for, sparkling teeth are very important for self-confidence. Many people don’t dare to smile freely because of the position of their teeth. This can be a problem not only for young people, but also for older people.

Orthodontic treatment can restore dental function, bite problems, and dental aesthetics based on special treatment plans.

As with everything else, dental technology is advancing, so in addition to the usual braces on the outer teeth, there are many options for invisible braces. Therefore, patients who do not want others to see their braces do not have to forego the possibility of getting them.

Frequently Asked Questions

The first consultation can be carried out at the age of 3 to 4 years in order to detect very early problems. However, it is strongly recommended that your child’s teeth be examined before the age of 7.

No. Teeth can be adjusted at any age. The biological basis for tooth movement is the same for all age groups. Tooth displacement in the bone—i.e., bone remodeling/reconstruction—is a characteristic of every living organism. Orthodontic treatment is not uncommon at the age of 50 or even 60. Of course, there are differences with age. During growth or tooth replacement, some differences can be influenced more easily. Later, however, you may need surgical assistance more often or have to remove a tooth more often to correct the difference between the jaws.

Yes. Fortunately, there are now two treatment options available for significant tooth movement that are invisible to the outside world. Ask our specialist for their opinion!

Not usually. This means that after wisdom teeth have been removed, the teeth do not grow back, so there is no chance that the crowding problem will resolve itself.

Another problem is that in some cases, after the wisdom teeth have been removed, orthodontic treatment (braces) should or must be used to move the side teeth back to where the wisdom teeth were. This creates space and avoids the need for additional tooth extraction. Our orthodontist takes these cases into account when planning treatment.

Unfortunately, in some cases it is unavoidable that we have to sacrifice one or more remaining teeth in order to create space and achieve an appropriate facial aesthetic. Normally, the first front molars are removed.

One of the important aspects of the treatment plan is that, after assessing the measures to be taken based on their professional experience, our specialist will estimate the expected duration of treatment, which depends primarily on the change required. On average, it takes 1.5-2.5 years. During this time, you should visit your doctor regularly every 2 to 8 weeks to have your braces adjusted. After the fixed braces are removed, removable, so-called loose braces (retainer braces) should be worn until the repositioned teeth are completely locked in place.

I am confident that I will soon be able to welcome you among our satisfied patients. Please contact us!
